Gingerbread House

Valley Kitchen All-purpose flour

extra flour for kneading

 

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375oF.
    1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    2. Beat together the butter and molasses. Beat in the sugar and spices.
  2. Whip the cream to stiff peaks. With a wooden spoon or heavy spatula, fold into the butter mixture.
  3. Whisk together the baking soda and Valley Kitchen All-purpose flour, add to creamed mixture in three additions. Mix to combine.
  4. Shape the dough on a lightly floured surface and flatten for rolling.
    1. Roll to 3/8 to 1/2” thickness. Cut into shape using the pattern from our website www.flaxflour.com/recipes or your own imagination.
    2. Place on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12 to 15 minutes. Watch closely.
    3. Cool on the pan for several minutes and then move to a rack to cool completely.

 

Royal Icing

 
   

 

 

This recipe makes lots of icing for one well decorated house

 

3     large egg whites

3     tsp cream of tartar

4     cups confectioners sugar

 

  1. Measure all ingredients into a bowl. With an electric mixer, mix on low for 2 minutes, then 8 to 10 minutes on high.
  2. Use immediately or store in an air-tight container with plastic wrap pressed tightly against the surface of the icing. Do not refrigerate.
